Neo Dig Mode #97 features Paris-based brand KRIBA, founded in 2022 by Geneva-born womenswear designer Kristell Bannier. Let’s explore her background and her 2025 collection.
Childhood experiences are reflected in the design
Born in Geneva, Kristell’s childhood was shaped by her mountaineering and climbing experiences. She left Chamonix to study fashion design, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree.
Before founding KRIBA in 2022, she gained experience in studios such as DAVID KOMA, VÉRONIQUE LEROY and MUGLER.
At the core of KRIBA is the sublimation of historical garments into contemporary corsets. Kristell explores the various expressions of the corset, fusing sensuality, functionality and androgyny.
She designs pieces that can be layered, skillfully incorporating menswear details, 70s biker style and the functionality of sports equipment.
Her main materials are upcycled materials, such as military surplus parachute fabric, studded leather, etc. All her pieces are designed and crafted in France with meticulous craftsmanship.
2025 Collection Inspired by Female Climbers of the 80s
The KRIBA 2025 collection, Les Gaillants, is inspired by the silhouettes of mountaineers of the 80s, especially Catherine Destivelle, the first woman to achieve groundbreaking mountaineering feats.
The collection’s colors start with raspberry pink, reminiscent of climbing gear, before moving towards darker, mineral tones.
Kristell reinterprets the climbing harness as a suspender belt, elevating technical gear into a sensual object. Modularly designed, draped dresses and tops are adjustable in length, allowing for freedom of movement and flowing silhouettes.
